All is set for the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Ibadan South West Local Government to hold a strategic local govermrnt meeting with party members today as the party intensifies preparations for the forthcoming local government elections.
The meeting have the presence of Chairmanship Candidate, Honourable Idris Akanbi, alongside his running mate, Vice Chairman Candidate, Alhaji Hassan Bello, and the 12 Councillorship Candidates across the 12 wards of Ibadan South West.
Party leaders said the meeting is designed to bring the candidates closer to the grassroots, align structures, and present a united front ahead of the polls.
According to the APM Local Government Chairman, the gathering will focus on unity, grassroots mobilization, and issue-based campaign strategies. He noted that APM remains committed to fielding credible candidates who understand the challenges at the local level and have the capacity to deliver.

Addressing expectations for the meeting, Honourable Idris Akanbi said his administration, if elected, will prioritize security, road rehabilitation, primary healthcare, education, youth skills acquisition, and support for market women and artisans and continuity front the dynamic incumbent chairman , Honourable Kehinde Akande .
“We are going into this race to serve our people. Ibadan South West deserves leadership that is accessible, accountable, and focused on development at the grassroots,” Hon. Akanbi stated. “This meeting is to listen to our party members, carry them along, and let them know that APM is ready to work for the people.”
Alhaji Hassan Bello, the Vice Chairman Candidate, also assured party members of inclusive governance. He said the ticket of Hon. Akanbi and himself represents experience, humility, and commitment to the welfare of residents across all communities in the local government.
The 12 Councillorship Candidates are expected to use the opportunity to introduce themselves to party faithful in their respective wards and to outline how they plan to bring government closer to the people through effective representation at the legislative arm of the local government.
Ward Chairmen, Women Leaders, Youth Leaders, and other stakeholders have been mobilized to attend. Party officials said the turnout is expected to be large as members are eager to meet the candidates ahead of the election.
Party leaders urged members to remain peaceful, united, and focused. He said the strength of the party lies in its grassroots structure and discipline.
“We are building a party that puts the people first. Today’s meeting is another step in that direction. I encourage all our members to come out, engage with our candidates, and let’s move APM forward in Ibadan South West,” he said.

Security has been put in place to ensure a hitch-free meeting, and party leaders have called on members to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
The APM said it will continue ward-to-ward consultations in the coming days to further consolidate its presence across Ibadan South West.
