APM Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Idris Akanbi, Visits Anfani Muslim Community Central Mosque, Seeks Partnership for Development of Ibadan South West

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, chairmanship candidate for Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Idris Akanbi, on Saturday took his community engagement tour to the Anfani Muslim Community Central Mosque, reiterating his commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development ahead of the upcoming local government election.

The candidate was warmly received by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Saheed Ayoola Gbadamosi, members of the mosque executive, religious leaders, and a large gathering of worshippers who turned out to meet with him.

During the interaction, Akanbi listened to concerns raised by members of the Anfani Muslim community bordering on security, youth empowerment, sanitation, access to basic health services, and the need for improved infrastructure in the area.

He assured the congregation that his administration, if elected, would prioritize people-centered policies that address the daily realities of residents.

“Our vision for Ibadan South West is simple: government that works for everybody. We cannot talk about development without carrying our religious leaders, our youths, our women, and our market people along,” Akanbi said.

The APM candidate stressed that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect. He commended the Anfani Muslim Community for its role in promoting harmony and moral values within Ibadan South West.

“This visit is about more than politics. It is about building bridges between government and the people. Our mosques, churches, and community leaders are critical partners in ensuring that government policies get to the grassroots,” he added.

Chief Imam Alhaji Saheed Ayoola Gbadamosi, in his remarks, welcomed the candidate and urged political office seekers to prioritize the welfare of the people over partisanship. He prayed for a peaceful electoral process and for leaders who will be accountable to the people.

The visit is part of Hon. Akanbi’s ongoing ward-to-ward and community-to-community engagements across Ibadan South West. In recent weeks, the APM candidate has met with traditional rulers, artisans, market leaders, youth groups, and other faith-based organizations to share his manifesto and gather feedback.

Key pillars of his campaign, according to him, include economic empowerment for youths and women, rehabilitation of inner roads, improved primary healthcare, support for local businesses, and stronger collaboration with security agencies to ensure a safer environment.

The engagement ended with special prayers offered by the Chief Imam and other clerics for the success of the election, peace in Ibadan South West, and wisdom for whoever emerges as chairman. There was also an exchange of goodwill between the candidate and members of the mosque community.

With the local government election drawing near, political activities in Ibadan South West have intensified, with candidates seeking to consolidate support across religious and community lines.

The APM has positioned its campaign around the theme of “Service, Accountability, and Progress,” with Hon. Akanbi promising to run a transparent administration that delivers tangible results to residents.
