The African People’s Movement, APM, Chairmanship Candidate for Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Idris Adewale Akanbi, has paid a courtesy and strategic home visit to the party’s Oyo South Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Dhikirulah Adedeji Olajide, popularly known as Odidi-Omo
The visit, which took place at Hon. Olajide’s residence. The atmosphere was described as warm, cordial, and focused on the collective interest of the party.
Hon. Akanbi said the purpose of the visit was to deepen internal relationships within the APM and to lay the groundwork for peace and unity across Ibadan South West ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.
He stressed that no political party can win without cohesion at the grassroots.
“Unity is not just a slogan for us in APM. It is the foundation on which we will build victory in Ibadan South West and across Oyo South,” Akanbi stated. “This visit is to assure our leaders that we are ready to work together, consult widely, and carry everyone along.”

Hon. Akanbi added that his campaign will be driven by inclusiveness, respect for party structures, and continuous engagement with leaders at the ward and community levels. He also pledged to run a campaign of peace, issue-based politics, and development-focused governance if elected.
Hon. Olajide, welcomed the chairmanship candidate. He commended Hon. Akanbi for the initiative, describing it as a sign of maturity, respect, and commitment to party discipline.
The Oyo South Senatorial Candidate him that they will all work as one united front to mobilize voters for all APM candidates from the local government to the presidential level.
“We cannot afford division. The task ahead requires all hands on deck,” Odidi-Omo said. “I am happy that Hon. Akanbi is starting with consultation. That is how we build a party that wins and a government that delivers.”
The meeting concluded with prayers offered by party elders for the success of APM candidates in the upcoming elections and for peace to reign throughout Ibadan South West Local Government.
The visit is seen as the first in a series of consultations, Hon. Akanbi plans to hold with party leaders and stakeholders as he formally begins his campaign for the chairmanship seat.
