The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State has affirmed Mr. Akin Fagbemi as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

Fagbemi, the immediate former Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board and former Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), emerged following the party’s primary election and affirmation exercise conducted across the two local government areas.
Party stakeholders said the affirmation process was in line with an earlier consensus arrangement reached among leaders and stakeholders within the federal constituency.

His nomination was subsequently affirmed by the APM chairmen in Ibadan North-West and Ibadan South-West local government areas in the presence of party executives, stakeholders and supporters.

The exercise, monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party leaders and delegates, was described as peaceful, transparent and orderly, reflecting growing unity and internal cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 polls.

Speaking shortly after the affirmation, Fagbemi expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them of effective representation and responsive leadership.

According to him, the House of Representatives mandate represents a collective responsibility aimed at promoting development, quality representation and inclusive governance across the constituency.
“This is not about personal ambition alone. It is about the collective aspirations of our people and the desire to bring quality representation, grassroots development and progressive leadership across Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency,” he said.
Fagbemi also pledged to sustain constituency-driven initiatives of the former federal lawmaker, Hon. Olajide Stanley Odidiomo, aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of the people.
He noted that his experience as Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board and OYRTMA has provided him with the administrative, grassroots and governance exposure required to effectively represent the interests of the constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.

The APM candidate further assured residents that youth empowerment, digital economy initiatives, educational support, infrastructural development, security advocacy and economic inclusion would remain priorities of his legislative agenda if elected
