Akeem Adetoyese Ishola, a member of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, has demanded the reversal of his client’s purported expulsion from the group, threatening legal action if the leadership fails to comply within seven days.

This is contained in a letter sent to the Director General of City Boy Movement on Octobober 20, 2026, by AOC Solicitors & Attorneys, Aresa Chambers, Ibadan, on behalf of Adetoyese.

The letter, signed by the firm’s Principal Partner, Akinlolu Oyebamiji, Esq., described the expulsion as invalid, alleging that it was carried out without fair hearing and announced by a person who lacked the authority to speak for the movement.

The Oyo State chapter of the movement had, in a statement dated October 16, 2026, announced the expulsion of Adetoyese and another member, Abiola Oyeyemi Olubadan, over alleged anti-party activities, including purported support for candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

However, Adetoyese, through his solicitors, denied the allegation, insisting that he had never engaged in anti-party activities or supported any political party or candidate against the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The letter stated that Adetoyese had been an APC member since the party’s inception and remained a recognised stakeholder who had contributed to grassroots mobilisation and the growth of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State.

His lawyers also faulted the description of their client as someone who was “previously associated with” the APC, describing it as false and misleading.

They argued that their client was neither informed of the allegations against him nor served with any complaint, query or petition before the decision to expel him was taken.

According to the solicitors, Adetoyese was not invited to the emergency meeting of October 16, during which the decision was allegedly reached, and was not given an opportunity to defend himself.

The lawyers maintained that the action violated the principles of natural justice, stressing that no member should be punished without being informed of the allegations and given a fair opportunity to respond.

They further questioned the authority of the individual who signed the expulsion statement, claiming that the position of Director of Information did not exist in the movement’s nationally established organisational structure.

The solicitors argued that the purported expulsion could not be considered valid because the announcement was allegedly issued by an unauthorised person and was not formally communicated to their client.

They also expressed displeasure that Adetoyese learnt of his purported expulsion through social media alongside members of the public, rather than through an official letter or direct communication.

According to the lawyers, the publication had exposed their client to public criticism and cast doubts on his loyalty and integrity before party stakeholders and the general public.

Consequently, the solicitors demanded that the national leadership of the movement review and formally rescind the expulsion, confirm in writing that Adetoyese remained a member in good standing, and publish a correction on the platforms where the original announcement appeared.

They also requested that, should the movement intend to pursue any allegation against their client, it should provide the full particulars and supporting evidence while allowing him a fair hearing in line with the organisation’s rules and the principles of natural justice.

The lawyers gave the movement seven days from receipt of the letter to meet the demands, warning that failure to comply would leave their client with no option but to pursue available legal remedies to protect his rights, reputation and interests.

Adetoyese, through his solicitors, maintained that he remained a bona fide member of the City Boy Movement, Oyo State chapter, and did not recognise the purported expulsion.
