All 33 LGAs Covered: GMM Pledges Support For Makinde, Adekanmbi During Meeting With DG Youth Mobilisation

The Grassroots Mobilisation Movement, GMM, has formally declared support for the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the governorship aspiration of Hon. Adekanmbi.

The declaration was made on Monday during a strategic visit to the Director-General, Youth Mobilisation for Governorship Election in APM and Presidential Campaign, Hon. (Amb.) Kazeem Bolarinwa, popularly called Ibadan Pride, at the campaign headquarters in Ibadan.

Addressing the DG and party stakeholders present, the State Coordinator of GMM, Hon. Ajao Musa Bolaji, said the movement is a people-driven structure with coordinators, women leaders and youth leaders in all 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

According to him, the decision to back Governor Makinde for President and Hon. Adekanmbi for Governor was reached after extensive consultations across the grassroots.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has redefined governance in Oyo State. From infrastructure to education, health to security, his administration has been inclusive and people-centered. We believe Nigerians deserve that same leadership at the national level,” Bolaji said.

“On the state level, Hon. Adekanmbi has the grassroots connection, the capacity, and the vision to consolidate and expand on the achievements we are already seeing. That is why GMM is throwing its full weight behind him.”

He added that GMM’s mandate is to ensure voter education, door-to-door sensitisation, and massive turnout for the candidates, noting that the group will not be deterred by political distractions.

Engr. Open Salawu, the deputy governorship candidate, took time to speak with the group and reaffirmed the ticket’s commitment to delivering quality leadership.

In his response, Hon. (Amb.) Kazeem Bolarinwa thanked the movement for aligning early with the campaign. He described GMM as a timely addition to the structure already being built by the Youth Mobilisation Directorate.

“This visit shows that the grassroots are awake and ready. With GMM covering all 33 LGAs, we now have more hands to reach the wards, the markets, the schools, and the communities,” Bolarinwa said.

He assured the group of collaboration and inclusion in the campaign’s mobilisation plans, adding that youth engagement would remain central to the strategy.

“We are building a campaign of ideas, not insults. A campaign that speaks to jobs, security, and prosperity. With leaders like Hon. Ajao and the GMM team, we are confident of victory,” he added.
