Akinyele 2026: Hon. Fakayode Fasina Fakolade Declares Interest in Ward 5 Councillorship Race

As political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Oyo State, a prominent member of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Hon. Fakayode Fasina Fakolade, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Councillor representing Ward 5 in Akinyele Local Government Area.

Hon Fakolade made his intention known through a declaration letter addressed to the Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Ward 5, where he expressed his commitment to providing effective representation and championing the interests of residents at the grassroots level.

The councillorship aspirant said his decision to seek elective office was motivated by his desire to contribute to the development of Ward 5 and ensure that the voices of the people are adequately represented in local government affairs.

According to him, Ward 5 possesses enormous human and economic potential that can be harnessed through visionary leadership, community engagement, and people-centered policies.

Speaking on his ambition, Hon. Fakolade emphasized the need for a new era of responsive representation, promising to prioritize community development, youth empowerment, educational advancement, infrastructural improvement, and economic opportunities for residents.

“Leadership is a call to service. I am presenting myself to serve the good people of Ward 5 because I understand their challenges and aspirations. My goal is to provide effective representation, promote unity, and work with all stakeholders to attract meaningful development to our communities,” he stated.

He further pledged to maintain close contact with constituents and ensure that their concerns are regularly communicated to relevant authorities for prompt attention.

The aspirant also reaffirmed his loyalty to the Allied People’s Movement, describing the party as a credible platform dedicated to good governance, accountability, and grassroots development.

He called on party leaders, members, youths, women groups, traditional stakeholders, and residents of Ward 5 to support his aspiration, assuring them that his administration, if elected, would be guided by transparency, inclusiveness, and service to the people.

Political stakeholders within Akinyele Local Government have described the declaration as a notable development in the build-up to the council elections, with many observers expressing optimism that increased participation by young and community-focused leaders will strengthen grassroots democracy.
