ADC OYO 2027: CREDIBILITY IS ABOUT TRACK RECORD, NOT NOISE – THE ALTERNATE

As political parties finalised their internal affairs ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, aspirants and their supporters are increasingly making claims about who best represents the future of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

While every party member has the constitutional right to aspire to public office, leadership at the level of governorship must be assessed on verifiable antecedents, proven capacity, public service record, and demonstrated commitment to the people.

In this regard, Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCA, presents a profile that deserves serious consideration.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Adegoke has spent over three decades building a career in finance, corporate management, oil and gas administration, and business leadership. His professional journey spans institutions such as Deloitte & Touche, Schlumberger Oilfield Services, and Oando Energy Services, where he occupied strategic financial leadership positions.

Unlike many politicians whose public relevance emerged only through political ambition, Adegoke’s record of philanthropy and community development predates his governorship aspiration. He has consistently supported widows, established academic awards for outstanding students, donated to educational institutions, built classroom blocks, and empowered hundreds of youths through vocational and entrepreneurial programmes.

Through the Adegboyega Adegoke Resource Centre (AARC), more than 200 young people were trained and equipped with entrepreneurial skills and working tools to become self-reliant.

His interventions have also extended to healthcare, community infrastructure, and social welfare. Public reports show his support for widows’ empowerment programmes and community development initiatives across Oyo State.

Beyond philanthropy, Adegoke has articulated governance positions on local government autonomy, grassroots development, traditional institutions, prudent financial management, and infrastructure expansion. These are policy conversations rooted in experience rather than mere political rhetoric.

The governorship of Oyo State is not an office for experimentation. It requires competence, administrative capacity, financial discipline, and a history of service to humanity.

Therefore, rather than focusing on self-proclamation or personality-driven politics, members of the ADC and the people of Oyo State should carefully examine the records of all aspirants. The critical question is simple: Who has demonstrated the capacity to manage resources, uplift communities, empower citizens, and provide visionary leadership?
