Ibadan, Oyo State —
The Member Representing Atisbo/Saki-East State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Saminu Riliwan Gbadamosi JP, popularly known as Wale Canada, has described teachers as indispensable pillars of society whose contributions to human development deserve recognition and appreciation every day.
In a message commemorating World Teachers’ Day, Wale Canada extended his warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation to teachers across Oyo State, Nigeria and beyond for their dedication, patience, sacrifices and unwavering commitment to shaping the minds and future of younger generations.
The Oyo lawmaker noted that while Teachers’ Day provides an important opportunity to celebrate educators, the value of their contributions goes far beyond a single day of recognition.

“Our teachers deserve daily accolades because their contributions to society are not limited to a particular day. Every doctor, engineer, lawyer, entrepreneur, public servant, political leader and professional was once guided by a teacher,” he said.
Wale Canada emphasised that teaching is more than a profession, describing it as a noble responsibility and a foundation upon which sustainable development is built.
According to him, the quality of education available to children and young people today will significantly determine the strength, productivity and prosperity of society in the future.
He therefore called for sustained investment in the education sector, improved working conditions for teachers, continuous professional development, adequate learning facilities and policies that promote the welfare and dignity of educators.
The lawmaker further acknowledged the resilience of teachers who continue to perform their responsibilities despite the various challenges confronting the education sector.
He said teachers deserve the collective support of governments, parents, communities and other stakeholders, stressing that building a better society requires not only educating children but also empowering those entrusted with their education.
Wale Canada also commended teachers within Atisbo/Saki-East State Constituency and across Oyo State for their service and dedication, assuring them that their efforts remain valuable and appreciated.
He encouraged teachers to remain committed to excellence and to continue inspiring their students with knowledge, discipline, integrity, creativity and hope.
“As we celebrate our teachers today, we must also remember that their impact continues every day in our classrooms and communities. Let us honour them not only with words, but through meaningful policies, better support and an environment that enables them to give their best,” he added.
Wale Canada concluded by praying for greater strength, wisdom and fulfilment for teachers, while reaffirming the importance of education as a critical pathway to individual empowerment, social progress and sustainable national development.
“To every teacher who continues to teach, inspire, mentor and build the next generation, we say thank you. Your work matters, your sacrifices are appreciated, and your legacy will continue to live through the lives you have touched.”
