As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has congratulated Nigerians and called for renewed commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
In a goodwill message to mark the October 1 Independence Day celebration, Agboworin said the anniversary should serve not only as an occasion for celebration but also as a moment for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s journey and the responsibilities required to move the nation forward.
He said the courage, resilience and unity that contributed to Nigeria’s emergence as an independent nation must continue to inspire citizens to work together for national development.
According to him, “Independence Day reminds us of the courage, resilience and unity that gave birth to our great nation. As we celebrate 66 years of independence, we must renew our commitment to building a Nigeria where peace, progress and prosperity are shared aspirations.”
Agboworin urged Nigerians to rise above divisions and embrace the values of unity, patriotism, mutual respect and collective responsibility, stressing that the future of the country depends on the contributions of every citizen.
He said, “We must continue to work together to build a nation that reflects our shared hopes and aspirations. Our diversity should remain a source of strength, while our common identity as Nigerians should unite us.”
The lawmaker also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying that with collective effort, responsible leadership and patriotic citizens, the country can achieve greater progress.
He called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to the development of the country, while wishing citizens a peaceful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
