A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency of Oyo State, Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has expressed strong optimism that the lingering internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will soon be resolved.

The lawmaker made this known on Friday while speaking with journalists in Abuja, noting that ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party are already yielding encouraging signals.
Agboworin explained that recent developments within the party suggest that key stakeholders are increasingly committed to restoring unity and repositioning the PDP for greater effectiveness.

According to him, the PDP, as one of Nigeria’s foremost political parties, has historically demonstrated the capacity to resolve internal disagreements through dialogue, consultation, and respect for democratic processes.

“The PDP has always had the internal capacity to resolve its challenges. What we are witnessing now are part of the democratic engagements that naturally occur in a large and vibrant political party,” he said.
He added that the current disagreements within the party are not fundamentally different from past situations where the PDP faced internal challenges but eventually resolved them and emerged stronger.

Agboworin further expressed encouragement at the calm and confident posture adopted by the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and other senior leaders of the party who have consistently called for patience, dialogue, and constructive engagement among stakeholders.

“Governor Makinde and other respected leaders of the party have consistently demonstrated maturity and commitment to unity. Their approach has been one of patience and constructive dialogue, and I strongly believe that such leadership will ultimately guide the party toward lasting reconciliation,” he said.
The federal lawmaker noted that he shares Makinde’s belief that the crisis will soon give way to renewed unity among party stakeholders across the country.
According to him, several party leaders are already engaged in wide consultations aimed at bridging differences and ensuring that the PDP remains a strong political platform capable of providing credible leadership for Nigerians.
“There are ongoing consultations across different levels of the party. Many leaders are working quietly behind the scenes to ensure that misunderstandings are addressed and that the collective interest of the party is protected,” Agboworin stated.
He emphasized that the overriding priority for party members should be strengthening unity and consolidating the party’s role in Nigeria’s democratic development.
“The most important thing at this moment is for the party to come together, consolidate on its strengths, and continue to play its historic role in deepening democracy in Nigeria,” he added.
Agboworin expressed confidence that once the ongoing reconciliation efforts reach their logical conclusion, the PDP will not only regain stability but also emerge stronger, more cohesive, and better prepared for the political challenges ahead.
“I am confident that the PDP will overcome this phase. Our party has a rich tradition of dialogue and consensus-building, and I believe that in the end, unity will prevail for the greater good of the party and the country,” he said.
