A fire outbreak on Tuesday razed parts of an OPay office in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, causing panic among residents and business operators in the area.
‎
‎The incident occurred at the fintech company’s office located along the busy Akala Expressway, attracting the attention of passersby and nearby workers.

‎Eyewitnesses said the fire started suddenly, with thick smoke and flames billowing from the building before emergency responders arrived.
‎
‎People within the vicinity reportedly raised an alarm as the fire intensified, prompting swift intervention from firefighters to prevent the situation from escalating further.
‎
‎Fire Service officials were later seen at the scene, working to contain the blaze and stop it from spreading to adjoining buildings.

‎Security operatives also cordoned off the area to allow firefighting operations to proceed unhindered and to ensure public safety.
‎
‎Although the cause of the fire had yet to be officially determined as of the time of filing this report, preliminary findings suggest that no lives were lost in the incident.
‎
‎There were also no immediate reports of serious injuries, as staff and occupants were believed to have evacuated the premises before the fire spread.
‎
‎Meanwhile, investigations have commenced to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and assess the level of damage to the property.

‎OPay is also expected to issue a statement on the incident and outline measures to ensure the continuity of its services to customers in Ibadan and across Oyo State.
