Security operations in Oyo State have received a significant boost as the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, distributed essential operational equipment to various security agencies across the state.
The empowerment event, held today , Thursday, October 30th , 2025 at the Ibadan Civic Center, Idi Ape, brought together top security officials, political leaders, and community stakeholders who applauded the initiative as a landmark contribution to security development in the state.
In his remarks, Hon. Agboworin said the programme was part of his commitment to complement the ongoing efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in improving security across Oyo State.
“This initiative is designed to support the good work of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in maintaining peace and order. During my visits to various security offices in my constituency, I observed the lack of essential equipment, which hampers their operations. Providing these tools is a step towards filling that gap,” Hon. Agboworin explained.
He added that the gesture was also meant to inspire other political leaders and private institutions to contribute to strengthening the security sector.
“Security should not be a matter of concern only during election periods. It’s a shared responsibility. Government alone cannot do everything, and if our security personnel lack the tools to work effectively, crime will thrive,” he said.
The items presented included fridges, generators, water dispensers, HP LaserJet printers, bundles of A4 paper, writing pads, and packs of official files.
Beneficiaries of the gesture include:
Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command
Department of State Security Services (DSS), Oyo State
Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), Oyo State Headquarters
Operation Burst Office
Divisional Police Headquarters at Testing Ground, Agugu, Felele, Sanyo, Mapo, and Idi Aro
DSS Offices in Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East
Amotekun Corps in Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East
