SaharaReporters learnt that the deadly attack occurred on Monday night.

Afresh attack has thrown Chakfem Chiefdom in Plateau State into mourning, leaving several lives lost and homes destroyed.

SaharaReporters learnt that the deadly attack occurred on Monday night.

According to the Plateau Youth Council (PYC) in a statement signed by Joshua Gabriel Goholput, Deputy PYC Chairman for Ephraim Prep, PYC Chairman Chakfem Chiefdom, the incident is not an isolated crime but part of a disturbing pattern that increasingly bears the mark of genocide.

The Council described the attack as a barbaric act, stressing that it was aimed at exterminating their people.

The statement said, “We condemn this barbaric assault in the strongest possible terms. No cause or grievance can justify the systematic shedding of innocent blood.

“Each life lost represents a shattered dream, a broken family, and a scar on the conscience of our nation. Beyond the physical destruction, such coordinated and repeated attacks sow seeds of fear and division, threatening the peace and unity we have worked so hard to preserve.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. We mourn with families and share in their grief. Every life lost is a wound to our land, and every destroy home is an assault on our collective future.”

“Their pain is our pain, and their grief is shared by the entire Chakfem Chiefdom. We urge them to remain steadfast in faith, knowing that justice will one day prevail,” it said.

“We call on security agencies to act swiftly and decisively. The perpetrators of this heinous crime which constitutes nothing short of genocide against defenceless communities must not go unpunished.

Anything short of justice will only embolden further bloodshed. Justice is not optional; it is a necessity for peace to reign.”

The PYC further called on government at all levels to provide adequate security for vulnerable communities and relief to survivors.

It reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of its people, stressing that it would not remain silent in the face of what it described as genocide.

“We will not keep silent in the face of genocide, and we will not rest until lasting peace is restored,” it added.

On Monday, Persecution.org reported that armed militants attacked Christians returning home after a morning devotion in Gwon village, Plateau State.

The assailants, suspected to be Islamic Fulani extremists, opened fire on the worshippers, killing three men — Stephen Maigadi, 57; Josiah Dachollom, 32; and Davou Sunday, 30.

Four others — Silvester Joshua, 23; Samson Musa, 25; Joshua Daniel; and Jonathan Yakubu — sustained injuries, some in critical condition.
