The Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiatives (CSCHEI) a recognised platform by United Nations coordinating and promoting CSOs, CBOs and NGOs within the scope of socio economic development has lauded all accredited election observers that participated in the just concluded By-elections held across different states on Saturday.

The commendation and appreciation was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday by the Director-General of (CSCHEI), Kunle Yusuff MON.

The statement equally appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives for ensuring fair and transparent elections in the states where the elections took place.

Yusuff however, urged the electoral umpire to embark on voter’s communication and education to create more awareness that will avert low turnout as the country prepares for 2027 general elections. The statement read’

“We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our alliance CSOs and CBOs members who were accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as observers for the recent National Assembly and State Assembly bye-elections held across Nigeria.

“We commend the dedication and commitment of our CSOs and CBOs in ensuring that the electoral process was transparent, free, and fair. We also appreciate the efforts of INEC officials, security personnel, and all stakeholders who worked tirelessly to make the elections a success.

“However, we note that the voter turnout was low, and we urge INEC to be more proactive in its communication strategy and voter’s education initiatives to enhance citizens’ participation in future elections.

“To our esteemed CSOs and CBOs, your contributions to the development of our country are invaluable, and history will forever remember your selfless service. We pray that God blesses you and guides you on your journey back to your various destinations.”
