An unidentified man reportedly fell from one of the upper floors of the iconic Cocoa House in Ibadan, Oyo State, on the morning of Monday, June 2, triggering shock and confusion among occupants and bystanders in the area.

The incident caused a temporary disruption of commercial activities around the historic high-rise as a crowd gathered at the scene, trying to grasp what had just happened.
Eyewitnesses described the moment with disbelief. “At first, I thought it was a large bird falling,” one witness recounted. “It wasn’t until the body hit the ground that I realized it was a human being. I was so stunned I couldn’t even record anything.”

Another bystander added, “He hit a roof beside the security post before landing. It was a terrifying experience.”

As of press time, the cause of the fall remains unknown, and authorities have yet to confirm whether it was accidental or deliberate. An investigation is currently underway.

Odu’a Investment Company Limited, the firm responsible for managing Cocoa House, confirmed the incident in a statement released Tuesday in Ibadan.
Victor Ayetoro, Head of Branding and Communication at the company, stated, “The individual involved was promptly attended to by emergency responders and rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for urgent medical care.”

He assured the public of the company’s cooperation with the relevant authorities, saying, “We express our deep concern over this unfortunate incident and are fully supporting the ongoing investigation.”
