Oyo lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Micheal, also known as BOOM, has appealed to Oyo state government to beef up security around Adenike, Under-G, Yoaco, General, Stadium and other students areas of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso for protection of lives and properties.

She made the call on Friday following a report by Sahara Reporters that two students of the institution were allegedly killed by some suspected herders.
The online medium had in its publication on Thursday, titled, “Suspected Herders raid LAUTECH students’ off-campus hostels in Oyo”, claimed that two students were killed.

According to Sahara Reporters, the suspected herders invaded communities around Stadium Area of Ogbomoso town in Oyo State last Monday and burgled many hotels accommodating thousands of LAUTECH students.
But reacting to the development, Hon. Bisi Oluranti however called on the state government to urgently beef up security around the students area.

She maintained that the call became imperative to address cases of armed robbery in some parts of the students area which according to her has always been frontally addressed by the University authority.
While appealing to Governor Makinde to quickly intervene on the matter, the lawmaker called for more collaboration of the university authority with security agencies and local government authorities to ensure regular patrol of the area.
Meanwhile, the Management and authority of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso had denied the killing of students of the institution by some suspected herders as reported by Sahara Reporters.
The management in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Lekan Fadeyi described the report as fake news.
It said: “There is no iota of truth in the story as no student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has been reportedly killed in the nearest past.”
