The city of Jos, Plateau State, was gripped by chaos and confusion on Tuesday morning following an explosion near the bustling Terminus market area. The blast, which reportedly occurred around 10:30 a.m., sent shockwaves through nearby communities and left several people injured.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of panic, with people running in all directions amid the loud bang. Gyang Buba, a local cloth vendor, recounted the terrifying moment: “I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying.”

While initial reports suggested there might be fatalities, authorities have not yet confirmed the extent of the damage or the number of injuries. Security operatives quickly arrived at the scene to provide aid to victims and secure the area, while the Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident and announced an ongoing investigation into the cause of the blast.

In a statement, a representative from the police command assured residents that they are actively working to determine what triggered the explosion. “The area has been cordoned off as investigators begin to assess the situation. We urge calm and assure the public that we will do everything possible to ensure their safety,” said the spokesperson.

The explosion has left residents on edge, and authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant while they continue to monitor and investigate the situation.
