The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health, is working on institutionalizing the maternal, infant, and young child feeding program across the country.
This initiative has led to the training of trainers between August 2023 and March 2024.
In view of this, the World Bank ANRIN Project organized the first cluster of an eight-day capacity-building workshop from October 28 to November 2, 2024.
The workshop aimed to provide optimal maternal, infant, and young child nutrition information and services to individuals, households, and communities with the theme “Adequate Nutrition, Eat Right, Stay Healthy.”
In his remarks, Oyo State Hospitals’ Management Board (OYSHMB) Chairman, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, emphasized the importance of nutrition in sustainable healthcare delivery.
Dr. Fagbemi stressed the escalation of diarrhea in the state and the need for nutritionists and dieticians to counsel on healthy eating habits.
The chairman commended the Federal Ministry of Health and Oyo State for organizing the training on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.
Present at the event were Dr. Akin Fagbemi, Permanent Secretary Dr. Anifat Ibraheem, and Director of Hospital Administration, Mr. Stephen Olatunde.
