2027: PDP Leaders Endorse Ibikunle as Consensus Assembly Candidate

Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan NorthWest have endorsed Dr. Olayinka Gbolahan Ibikunle as the consensus candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement took place during the Weekly Local Government General Meeting held at Ebenezer School, where party leaders, elected officials, and grassroots stakeholders unanimously threw their weight behind Ibikunle’s candidacy to represent Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency.

Among those present at the meeting were Alhaji Lukman Adeshina, Ex-officio of the PDP in Oyo State and Immediate Past Local Government Chairman; Hon. Rahman Adepoju, Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government; and Hon. Ganiy Omotosho, Political Head/Administrator of Okebadan LCDA.

Also in attendance were Hon. Kazeem Fantola, Chairman of the PDP in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government; the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Oluwagbemileke Nelson Gbadamosi, alongside councillors, supervisory councillors, special assistants to the Executive Chairman, local government party executives, ward executives, and a large number of party faithfuls, groups, and supporters.

The meeting which also marks the official announcement of the candidate is described by attendees as a strong show of unity and cohesion within the party, culminated in a collective agreement to adopt Ibikunle as the party’s consensus candidate, citing his experience, loyalty, and commitment to grassroots development.

In his remarks reported by 9janews247.com.ng, Dr. Ibikunle expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him. He specifically commended the Governor of Oyo State, the PDP state leadership, and key stakeholders including Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the State Vice Chairman of the party, as well as the Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government.

He also acknowledged the unwavering support of party structures across all levels and the dedication of party faithfuls who, he noted, remain the backbone of the PDP’s strength in the constituency.

Ibikunle pledged to deliver inclusive, people-oriented, and development-driven representation if elected, assuring constituents that their voices and interests would be effectively represented at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
