The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has called for greater investment in the Nigerian youth, describing young people as the driving force of the nation’s future.
Agboworin made the call in a statement by his Media Group, commemorating the 2026 International Youth Day, where he celebrated the courage, creativity, resilience and enormous potential of young Nigerians.
The lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, noted that the strength of any nation lies significantly in how well it identifies, nurtures and empowers its younger generation.
According to him, Nigerian youths are not merely leaders of tomorrow but active contributors to the development of the country today, stressing the need to create an environment where they can acquire relevant skills, pursue education, build businesses and participate meaningfully in governance and national development.

Agboworin said youth empowerment must go beyond rhetoric, urging governments, the private sector and other stakeholders to deepen investments in education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, technology, sports and other areas capable of unlocking the potential of young people.
He however encouraged Nigerian youths to remain focused, innovative and committed to excellence, assuring them that their talents and contributions remain essential to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
