The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, has extended warm felicitations to workers across the local government area as Nigeria marks the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.

In a goodwill message released on Firday, Hon. Akande described workers as the “engine room of governance and development,” commending their dedication, resilience, and sacrifice in driving service delivery at the grassroots.
“The growth of Ibadan South West rests on the shoulders of our committed workforce. From our administrative staff to health workers, teachers, environmental officers, and artisans, your daily labour keeps this council running,” the Chairman stated.

Hon. Akande acknowledged the economic challenges facing workers nationwide but reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, prompt salary payment, and a conducive working environment. He noted that his government has prioritized capacity building and staff motivation as key pillars for effective local administration.

“On this Workers’ Day, I salute your professionalism and urge you not to relent. We will continue to engage with labour leaders and ensure that the welfare of IBSWLG staff remains a top priority,” he said.

The Chairman also called for renewed partnership between the council leadership and workers, stressing that sustainable development requires unity of purpose. He urged civil servants to remain diligent, punctual, and dedicated to public service as the council intensifies efforts on road rehabilitation, primary healthcare, and youth empowerment.

Hon. Akande concluded by wishing all workers a peaceful celebration and praying for strength and reward for their labour.

“Happy Workers’ Day to the gallant men and women of Ibadan South West Local Government. Your service counts, and history will remember your contribution,” the statement read.
