As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate Workers’ Day, the member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has called on government at all levels to prioritise the welfare of Nigerian workers.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Agboworin paid tribute to workers across various sectors—including teachers, healthcare professionals, artisans, civil servants, and entrepreneurs—describing them as the backbone of the nation’s development.

He stressed that while Workers’ Day is a time for celebration, it should also serve as a reminder of the urgent need to improve working conditions, ensure fair wages, and strengthen job security for the nation’s workforce.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and legislative initiatives that protect workers’ rights and expand economic opportunities, noting that a motivated workforce is critical to national progress.

Agboworin further urged Nigerian workers to remain resilient and hopeful, assuring them that their contributions remain vital to building a more inclusive and prosperous society.
