Honourable (Dr.) Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, fondly known as “Comforter Dee” or “Olutunu De,” stands as one of the most visible, compassionate, and community-rooted legislators in Oyo State today. Representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), she has distinguished herself through a leadership style grounded in empathy, accessibility, and unwavering grassroots engagement.

A Name, A Promise, A Calling

Her popular slogan, “Comforter Dee,” carries a profound meaning among her supporters and constituents. It translates to “the Comforter has come”—a message that symbolizes hope, reassurance, and divine help. To many in Ibadan North, the slogan is more than political branding; it represents a renewed belief that responsive and people-centered governance has arrived. It reflects her personality: a leader who brings comfort, relief, and encouragement to her community.

A Leader Molded by Community Values

From the onset of her political journey, Hon. Comforter has consistently demonstrated that true leadership begins with service. Her public engagements, grassroots interactions, and communication style show a politician who remains deeply connected to her people. She celebrates with her constituents, stands by them in moments of difficulty, and promotes conversations that strengthen unity and development. Her leadership philosophy is strongly influenced by the exemplary governance model of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE. By drawing from his people-first style, she embraces humility, accountability, and practical solutions—bringing governance closer to the everyday realities of her constituents.

Championing Women and Community Development

As Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Comforter has been a formidable advocate for women, families, and grassroots welfare. She has consistently championed initiatives that promote women empowerment, maternal wellbeing, and the recognition and elevation of community women leaders. Her work also extends to supporting vulnerable groups and implementing social protection and livelihood programmes. This approach reflects her deep understanding that empowered women are central to building stronger, more resilient communities.

Visible Touch Through Grassroots Projects

Hon. Comforter’s constituency interventions are particularly notable for their immediacy and relevance. Through her foundation and community platforms, she has rehabilitated boreholes and small community-use facilities, provided direct support to vulnerable households, and initiated various empowerment and welfare programmes. She actively engages with her community during celebrations and emergencies, demonstrating personal commitment and accessibility. Currently, she is overseeing the construction of a police station in her constituency, among other projects, all of which underscore her belief that governance should be tangible, practical, and accessible.

A Consistent Voice in the PDP and Oyo Political Landscape

Her presence within the PDP in Oyo State is both active and respected. Hon. Comforter’s contributions at party events, community engagements, and civic gatherings reflect her dedication to strengthening political unity and participatory democracy. Her reliability, respectfulness, and hard-working nature have earned her admiration across the political spectrum.

A Leader Who Listens, Responds, and Delivers

One of her most distinguishing qualities is her accessibility. Hon. Comforter maintains open lines of communication with her constituents, ensuring they remain informed and included in governance processes. This mirrors the inclusive style of Governor Makinde—leadership rooted in listening, responding, and delivering.

In conclusion , Honourable (Dr.) Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide embodies a refreshing blend of empathy, resilience, and purposeful action. Her commitment to women’s development, community upliftment, and grassroots inclusion reflects a leader genuinely devoted to her people. By adopting and expanding on the leadership ideals of Governor Seyi Makinde, while infusing her own compassion, she continues to leave a lasting imprint on Ibadan North Constituency 1.

Her journey is one of hope, assurance, and transformative impact, truly befitting her name, “Comforter Dee”—the comfort that has come.
