The GSMists, a sociopolitical movement aligned with the progressive ideals of Oyo State Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, have extended warm congratulations to His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Abimbola AbdulAkeem Owoade I, on his installation as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

In a statement jointly signed by the group’s Chief Coordinator,Hon. Lukman Abayomi Olajide (Royal Umbrella, Ore Gomina) and the Coordinator Prince Oluyinka Tella, the GSMists described the new monarch’s ascension as a historic milestone in the rich, cultural legacy of the Oyo Empire.

“On behalf of the GSMists and all progressive supporters of His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, we heartily congratulate His Imperial Majesty on ascending the throne of his forefathers,” the statement read. “We believe that Oba Abimbola Owoade I’s reign will herald a new era of peace, cultural revival, and prosperity for Oyo Kingdom and the entire Yoruba race.”

The group praised the monarch’s pedigree, intellect, and deep connection to Yoruba traditions, stating that he is a worthy custodian of the revered Oyo throne.

In the same vein, the GSMists applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his role in ensuring a smooth, fair, and transparent selection process that led to the emergence of Oba Owoade I. They commended the Governor’s commitment to due process, equity, and respect for traditional institutions.

“Governor Makinde has once again demonstrated true leadership, integrity, and dedication to justice by ensuring that the right candidate emerged. His actions reaffirm his respect for the culture and values of our people,” the statement added.
