Ibadan residents now have more to savour, as Sooyah Bistro, Nigeria’s beloved modern suya spot, officially opened its second outlet in the city today, Saturday, 25th October, 2025.

The new branch, located at the Richie Rich Building, opposite Bollads Event Centre, Akala Express, marks the 11th branch of the growing food brand.
Speaking shortly after the grand opening, Mrs. Olamidun Ogundoyin, Founder and CEO of Sooyah Bistro, shared the inspirational story behind the now-thriving food brand.

“I started Sooyah Bistro in 2018 as a side hustle in Lagos with just N20,000 worth of stock and a Suya Mallam. The original idea was to spread the joy of Nigerian food and reimagine how we eat Suya. We have since grown organically, no bank loans, no investors, just pure passion and the incredible support of our customers,” she said.

The Akala Express outlet is Sooyah Bistro’s second branch in Ibadan, with the first located on Ring Road.
The remaining nine branches are in Lagos. The company currently employs over 120 staff and plans are underway to open a third Ibadan branch in Bodija as well as expand to Abuja and other parts of Nigeria.
Describing Sooyah Bistro as “Suya wey get master’s degree,” Mrs. Ogundoyin noted that the brand is about celebrating Nigerian culture through food, offering innovative options like Suya burgers, Suya shawarma, Suya rice bowls, and more.

Her message to Nigerian youth was clear, “Start small. Be passionate. Be dedicated. I began with just N20,000 and no formal funding, and today we’re celebrating our 11th branch. Your passion is more valuable than money.”
Guests at the grand opening were treated to great food, music, good vibes, and the signature Sooyah Bistro flavour that has captivated taste buds across the country.
Sooyah Bistro continues to position itself as a proudly indigenous brand redefining Nigerian street food with world-class service and a commitment to excellence.
