The Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Seun Oladeji Richard, on Saturday convened youth leaders and key stakeholders from across Oke-Ogun to mobilise support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The strategic meeting, held in Saki, culminated in the inauguration of a new political movement, OkeOgunYouthSupport4Bimbo, established to harness the numerical strength, energy and political influence of youths across Oke-Ogun in support of the APM candidate.
No fewer than 10 local government youth leaders and other key youth stakeholders from the 10 local government areas in Oke-Ogun attended the meeting.
Among those present were the APM Senatorial Youth Leader for Oyo North, Hon. Folawiyo Oladipupo; Saki West APM Youth Leader, Hon. Oluwaseyi; Mr. Akinola Opeyemi; Hon. Jamiu Asiri, representing Irepo/Olorunsogo Constituency in the Oyo State Youth Parliament; and other youth leaders and stakeholders from across the zone.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Oladeji Richard said the movement was established to transform the numerical strength and collective influence of Oke-Ogun youths into political capital for APM ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasised that young people remain a critical constituency in any successful election, stressing that unity, organisation and grassroots engagement among Oke-Ogun youths would be instrumental to the party’s success.
«“Oke-Ogun youths must take ownership of this project. We are forming OkeOgunYouthSupport4Bimbo to ensure that our votes, our voices and our structure work for a credible candidate who will continue the legacy of good governance started by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde,” he said.»
Oladeji further described APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, as a candidate who represents continuity, youth inclusion and sustainable development, adding that these qualities would be important in shaping the future of Oyo State beyond 2027.
In his remarks, Hon. Folawiyo Oladipupo, APM Senatorial Youth Leader for Oyo North, described the initiative as timely, noting that Oke-Ogun youths were prepared to support leadership that prioritises youth empowerment, job creation and inclusive governance.
Also speaking, Saki West APM Youth Leader, Hon. Oluwaseyi, and Hon. Jamiu Asiri of the Oyo State Youth Parliament pledged their commitment to mobilising young people at the ward and polling-unit levels.
They assured that the movement would embark on extensive grassroots sensitisation to ensure that communities across Oke-Ogun are adequately informed about the APM agenda.
The stakeholders unanimously resolved to commence immediate grassroots sensitisation and voter mobilisation across the 10 local government areas of Oke-Ogun under the OkeOgunYouthSupport4Bimbo platform.
They expressed confidence that through discipline, unity, strategic engagement and coordinated grassroots mobilisation, Oke-Ogun youths would play a decisive role in supporting APM and Bimbo Adekanmbi in the 2027 governorship election.
