We are saddened to announce the demise of our father, great-grandfather and community leader, Pa (Dr.) Amos Ademola Adepoju, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the ripe age of 89 years.

Pa Adepoju was born on June 29, 1936, in Igboora, the Twin Capital of the World.
He was the Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan between 1981 and 1988, where he was instrumental in the creation of satellite campuses in Esa-Oke, Saki, Iree and Eruwa. These campuses, initially part of the Polytechnic Ibadan, have since grown to become full-fledged tertiary institutions.

The late octogenarian retired from active civil service in 1991 as the General Manager of the Agriculture Credit Corporation of Oyo State. His dedication to public service made him to serve in different capacities upon his retirement, which included but not limited to:

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Nasarawa State. He was a Pioneer National Executive Member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998, where he helped shape the party’s direction during its formative years that ushered in the beginning of Nigerian democracy in 1999 and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Throughout his public service, Pa Adepoju wasted no time with any opportunity he had to better the lives of the sons and daughters of Ibarapa. The evidence of this, which continues to be reckoned with in Ibarapa Land till date, was when he was appointed as a full-time Commissioner at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Immigration, Prisons and Civil Defence Board. In his role in this capacity, he facilitated the employment of many Ibarapa indigenes in these government parastatals. His efforts extended beyond just positions of power; he worked tirelessly to uplift his people, creating opportunities and fostering growth within his community.
Dr Amos, until his passing, was the Asiwaju of Igboora Land, the exalted position bestowed on him by the sons and daughters of Igboora on October 13, 2023, in recognition of the family tradition of leadership and community service.

The renowned academic scholar is survived by his wife, children and great-grandchildren, among whom is Hon. (Dr) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, who is the member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency in the current 10th National Assembly, who also doubles as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character.
