Ibadan, Oyo State – The historic city of Ibadan buzzed with nostalgia, pride, and celebration as the Purchasing and Supply Class (PSC) ’012 Set of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, gathered for their much-anticipated first reunion on Saturday. The event, held in the prestigious city of Ibadan was a vibrant tapestry of reconnecting alumni, heartfelt tributes, and a crowning moment of recognition for an illustrious figure, Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru Morenikeji, the Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, who was conferred with the coveted Award of Excellence.

The reunion marked a significant milestone for the PSC ’012 Set, bringing together former classmates who, over a decade ago, walked the hallowed halls of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, forging bonds and shaping their futures in the Faculty. The event was not merely a walk down memory lane but a powerful testament to the enduring legacy of the institution and the remarkable achievements of its alumni.

The reunion featured a rich program, including keynote speeches, panel discussions on career advancement in public service and entrepreneurship.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Award of Excellence to Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru Morenikeji, the Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and transformative contributions to grassroots development. The award, meticulously crafted and inscribed with words of admiration, was presented amidst a standing ovation.

Hon. Kamorudeen, a proud alumnus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has become a towering figure in Oyo State politics, known for his people-centric governance and unwavering commitment to the progress of Lagelu Local Government. Under his leadership, Lagelu has witnessed significant strides in infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment, earning him accolades from both residents and political observers.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Kamorudeen expressed profound gratitude to the PSC ’012 Set for the honor, dedicating the award to Governor Seyi Makinde, his alma mater, and the people of Lagelu. “This recognition is a reminder of where I started and the values of service and integrity that The Polytechnic, Ibadan, instilled in me,” he said. “I am humbled, but this award is not just for me—it is for the one who gave us the opportunity to serve, I’m talking of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and for every one of us striving to make a difference in our communities.”

He urged the alumni to continue supporting one another and contributing to the development of their alma mater, emphasizing the importance of giving back. “The Polytechnic, Ibadan, gave us the foundation to succeed. Now, it is our turn to ensure that future generations have even greater opportunities,” he added, sparking cheers from the audience.
