Professor Abdulrahman Raphael Afonja, PhD, has joined numerous well-wishers to felicitate with the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Her Excellency Tamunominini Makinde, on their recent conferment with prestigious chieftaincy titles in Akure, Ondo State.


Governor Makinde was bestowed with the title of Aare Omoluwabi of Akure Land, while his wife was honoured as the Yeye Aare Omoluwabi of Akure Land, in recognition of their exemplary leadership, contributions to society, and embodiment of Omoluwabi values a core component of Yoruba cultural heritage.
The installation ceremony, which took place in the Ondo State capital, was attended by eminent personalities from across Nigeria and served as a grand celebration of Yoruba culture, unity, and tradition.

Prof. Afonja praised the honour as a testament to the Makindes’ integrity, selflessness, and enduring service to the people. He noted that the titles not only reflect the couple’s contributions to Oyo State but also to the wider Yoruba nation.


“This recognition further cements Governor Makinde’s status as a visionary leader and statesman whose legacy continues to inspire,” Prof. Afonja stated.
