The Molete residence of the late political godfather in Ibadan, High Chief Alhaji Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu was filled to the brim on Sunday 9th March 2025 as Muslim faithful across Oyo state and beyond graced the annual memorial Adedibu Ramadan lecture.
The lecture which is the 16th of its series after the demise of Chief Adedibu witnessed the presence of eminent personalities including the Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde who was represented by his Deputy, Barr. Abdul Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Deputy National Chairman (South) of the People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin represented by Chief Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, Alhaji Daud Makanjuola Akinola, Chairman Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, the Babasale Musulumi of Oyo State, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi.
Others include Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Hon.Sikirulahi Stanley Olajide that represents Ibadan South West/North West federal constituency, Personal Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Commissioners for Works, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin and Education, Mr Soliu Adelabu, Akeem Olatunji , Chairman Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe, Professor Abass Adedibu, late Adedibu’s widow, Alhaja Modinat Abosede Adedibu and others.
In his lecture titled; “the rail of good deeds in Islam” a renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Buhari Ibn Musa described late Adedibu as an epitome of progress who lived a life to bring hope and succour to the younger generation.
He reminisced on the impact and positive effect the late political godfather had on the lives of those that had close contact with him in Ibadan and Nigeria as a whole, stressed that the effect of Adedibu’s relevance is still being felt.
While eulogizing his widow, Alhaja Modinat Abosede for sustaining his legacy and good deeds years after his demise, Sheikh Buhari charged today’s politicians and those in position of authority to remember that one day they will no longer be in those positions and therefore, embrace the good deed so as to have a better ending.
The representative of the Olubadan of Ibadan land who is the Chairman of Solution FM Ibadan, Chief Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke in a chat with reporters described late Adedibu as a simple, straightforward and a man whose legacy has shaped the lives of thousands of the people.
He noted that the annual gathering of Ramadan lecture in his remembrance is as a result of his sacrifice and selfless act which has made his name not to be forgotten.
