Like many PDP faithful across the country who have watched the noise, pressure, and legal distractions with keen attention, I, too, have had my fair share of concerns. Yet above all these, I have an unshakable internal peace, a peace rooted in the capacity and courage of the Leadership of our party.
Yes, the Ibadan Convention was important but the courage to go ahead despite pressure, legal distractions and noise is even more significant. History doesn’t wait for perfect conditions; it waits for the courageous. Leadership is proven in the fire, not in comfort.
However, no serious political party will tolerate a top member openly campaigning against it while trying to stall its progress. Governor Makinde and PDP Leadership pushed ahead. That’s pure leadership. 💪
As per the Saturday Convention, records show that even when the PDP had a sitting President, many Governors, and numerous lawmakers, some high-ranking members once staged a walkout during a national convention. That is the nature of internal democracy , it gives room for differing voices and inevitable reactions.
Challenges of court battles, factional resistance, media noise may come afterwards yet the party Leadership has shown the capacity to steady the ship and protect the soul of PDP.
Many say this is a defining moment for the party — a chance to reset, rebuild, and reclaim credibility ahead of 2027. PDP didn’t just hold a convention — Makinde and the Leadership of PDP restored belief.
Congratulations to Dr. Kabiru Turaki (SAN) on his emergence as National Chairman and all the new National executive.
A special salute to our own leader and mentor, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, on his well-deserved emergence as National Secretary.
Kudos to His Excellency and the entire Oyo PDP family for successfully hosting a Convention that sets a high standard in party organisation and cohesion.
History will remember this.
PDP will remember this.
