The Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Professor Musbaudeen Babatunde, has on Thursday commissioned a newly constructed Omituntun Amotekun Office at Ayegun in Oluyole Local Government Area.

The Oyo SSG described the Executive Chairman of the council, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, as a visionary leader whose commitment to grassroots development and security has continued to impact lives positively.

The commissioning ceremony, which recorded a large turnout of political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders and residents, was attended by the Allied People’s Movement (APM) Deputy Governorship candidate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, alongside other top government officials and party faithful.

The event also featured the presentation of empowerment equipment to beneficiaries as part of efforts to boost economic activities at the grassroots.

In a further demonstration of support for community policing and grassroots security architecture, three motorcycles were donated to strengthen security operations.

One motorcycle was allocated to the newly commissioned Omituntun Amotekun Office, while another was presented to the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), whose office was commissioned in the area last week.

The remaining motorcycle is expected to complement security patrol activities within the Oluyole local government.

Speaking shortly after unveiling the facility, Professor Babatunde commended Olatunji for prioritising the security of lives and property, noting that no meaningful development could thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity.

He urged residents to continue supporting the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, stressing that sustained cooperation between government and the people remained vital to maintaining the state’s developmental trajectory.

According to him, the achievements recorded under the present administration across various sectors should encourage the electorate to consolidate on the gains by supporting the APM in the forthcoming elections.

The SSG also expressed confidence in Olatunji’s capacity to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing his performance as council chairman as evidence of his competence and commitment to public service.

“From what he has demonstrated at the local government level, I have no doubt that Engr. Akeem Olatunji possesses the experience, vision and capacity to deliver quality representation for the people of Oluyole at the National Assembly,” he said.

Earlier in his goodwill message, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, emphasized that security remains the foremost priority of every responsible government, noting that no meaningful development can take place without a safe and secure environment.

He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his significant investments in strengthening security across Oyo State, describing the governor’s commitment as a major factor in maintaining peace and promoting sustainable development in Oyo state

He also praised Olatunji, for his outstanding performance in office which according to him, has remained one of the most effective and high performing local government chairmen in Oyo State whose leadership has brought visible progress to the council.

He added expressed desire to claim an indigene of Oluyole local government if he was an Ibadan man, a decision he attributed to the exceptional leadership and remarkable achievements of Olatunji.

In his remarks, Olatunji expressed profound appreciation to Governor Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Oluyole Local Government.

He also thanked the Secretary to the State Government, the APM Deputy Governorship candidate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, and other dignitaries for honouring the invitation and identifying with his administration.

The council chairman reiterated that security remained one of the cardinal priorities of his administration, explaining that several security posts had been constructed and commissioned across the local government to strengthen community-based security and support security agencies in combating crime.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to security agencies to ensure lasting peace and stability in the area.

Olatunji further appealed to residents of Ayegun and the wider Oluyole Local Government Area to remain steadfast in their support for his administration and that of Governor Makinde, assuring them that greater developmental projects would continue to reach their communities.

Speaking on his aspiration to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Olatunji pledged to facilitate the construction of the long-awaited Ayegun/Olomi Road within his first year in office if elected.

He described the road project as one of the critical infrastructure needs of the constituency, promising to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure its timely delivery.

Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Executive Chairman of Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Hon. Seun Ojo; former Commissioner, Engr. Ayuba Balogun; former Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Popoola Olaide; Vice Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Niyi Akorede; former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon.
