A prominent sociopolitical group in Oyo State, known as GSM Advocates, has donated a sum of ₦500,000 to the family of the late aide of the executive chairman of Oluyole local government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji.

Suleiman Olatunji, popularly known as ‘Lexyman’ who was until his tragic death earlier in the month, was a staunch member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole local government and served as the Personal Assistant to the Council chairman before his passing.

The GSM Advocates presented the cash donation to the family head of the deceased, Alhaji Dauda Olatunji, who received the money on behalf of the family.

According to Asiwaju Olatunji who is founder and leader of the GSM Advocates in Oyo state, the financial assistance was aimed at supporting the deceased aide’s immediate family during this period of grief and transition.

Asiwaju Olatunji, who recently just returned from Saudi Arabia where he had gone to perform the 2025 Hajj, had earlier made a donation of one million naira to the bereaved family while also placing the eldest child of the deceased on a full academic scholarship and free accommodation for her tertiary education till graduation.

The group praised the late Asiwaju Olatunji’s aide for his commitment to PDP and loyalty to his principal while alive.

The group equally commended the deceased’s unwavering commitment and loyalty to Asiwaju Olatunji’s political ideals and described him as a “silent engine room” behind grassroots mobilization efforts.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Coordinator of GSM Advocates in Oyo state, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, said, “This is our humble way of honoring a young and dynamic man who served his Oluyole LG, myself as my PA, and the PDP family diligently until his last breath.

“While alive, I literally trusted him with everything because he was who I like to describe as a ‘utility player’, politically resourceful, calculative, and a versatile grassroots mobilizer. Words can not fully capture how much I’ll continue to miss him.

“He was more than an aide to me, he was like a member of my own family to me, and the times we shared during some of our challenging political journey. I thank GSM Advocates for their generosity and empathy during this trying time.

“But aside all of that, we at the GSM Advocate understand the emotional and financial weight that such a sudden loss places on a family, and we believe it is only right that we step in to help,” Asiwaju Olatunji said.

The Council boss also noted that the donation reflects the spirit of unity and community service espoused by supporters of Governor Seyi Makinde, whom the group aligns with ideologically and politically.

The deceased family head, Alhaji Dauda Olatunji, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed deep gratitude to the group for their timely intervention and described the late aide as a “brother and confidant” whose legacy would not be forgotten.
