The People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde, all the PDP Governors, Senators, Federal House of Representatives members, State House of Assembly members, Local Government chairmen, stakeholders, leaders, delegates and members, across the country over the successful conduct of the PDP Elective National Convention held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. The convention, which started on Saturday and ended in the early hours of today, has been described as necessary, critical and pivotal to the future of the party and the country at large.
In a statement signed by the State Party Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, the Party said it commended Governor Seyi Makinde for not limiting his leadership acumen to Oyo State alone but also extending it to the national level.
The People’s Democratic Party commended Governor Seyi Makinde for providing a calming atmosphere, leadership and stability that made the convention a historic success.
The Chairman of the PDP in Oyo State said that despite a series of legal tussles, external pressures, and deliberate attempts to halt the convention, Governor Makinde demonstrated unwavering courage, strategic leadership, and exceptional resilience. His steadfast commitment ensured that the convention proceeded without disruption which reinforced the strength of democracy and the unity of our great party.
The Oyo State Chapter of the Party remains proud of the exemplary leadership and representation shown at this crucial moment in the life of the party. It also reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting all elected officers as they work collectively to strengthen the PDP and reposition it for greater success in future elections.
The PDP also congratulated Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja over his emergence as the new national secretary of the Party in a convention that has been described as the best in the history of the PDP.
The Party expressed its confidence in the former Deputy National Chairman of the Party to bring to bear his wealth of experience.
The PDP cited the emergence of the newly elected National Secretary, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, as one which reflects the Party’s commitment to competence, structure and respect for internal democracy.
In the same vein, the Oyo State PDP congratulates Dr Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, for emerging as the newly elected national chairman of the party. Their victories reflect the confidence reposed in their competence and commitment to advancing the mission and vision of the PDP.
Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro said the PDP has once again shown that even in adversity, the Party shines brighter and remains a huge force in the political firmament of Nigeria.
The Party assured Nigerians that it is more than ready to provide leadership and succour to them as the Party is now in good standing and well-positioned as the best alternative to the ruling APC.
The PDP said its internal strife has only strengthened the Party and made it more ready to remain stronger in the face of omniknowest and recalcitrant members.
The Chairman also reiterated the Oyo State Chapter of the PDP’s support for the resolutions reached yesterday at the convention. The Party said the resolutions reached at the convention are all in order and proper, and it stands by them. The PDP chairman said it is high time the Party took action against some of its members who have seen themselves as untouchable, describing their actions as uncalled for and childish.
The Party also extended its congratulatory messages to other national officers who emerged at the historic Ibadan convention.
The Party charges them to ensure the PDP continues to remain the dream and vision its founding fathers envisioned it to be.
