Oyo NULGE Praises Makinde Over Completion of Ultra-Modern LG Service Commission Complex, Staff Training School

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Oyo State has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the successful completion of the ultra-modern Local Government Service Commission complex and Staff Training School in the state capital, Ibadan.

President of NULGE, Oyo state chapter, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun gave the commendation yesterday, September 23, while speaking with westernmirror.com.ng shortly after accompanying the state Governor, Seyi Makinde on an inspection tour of the facility inside the secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

According to Comrade Adeogun, the project which he described as landmark in the history of the state would enhance local governance, improve service delivery and productivity of his members.

Comrade Adeogun emphasized the importance of the new facilities, stating that it would provide local government employees with essential resources and access to training opportunities.

“This development is no doubt dawn of a new era in our local government system in the state, it is a state of the art ultra modern facility that local government staff have been in dire need of.

“Prior to now, the local government service commission has no single building of its own in the entire state secretariat, the commission only shares a small part of ground floor in one of the ministries.

“With the completion of the local government service commission Complex and Training School, our members will now have access to periodic training and retraining on capacity building to become more effective and productive.

“Working in the local government civil service should not just be about turning up at work by 8a.m and returning home by 4pm without any sense of personal growth and fulfilment as individuals. This is 21st century and our members also deserve career fulfillment under the commission.

“Governor Makinde, during the inauguration ceremony, emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening local governance and I want to say that we’re with him on that and to fully collaborate with his administration to ensure local government administration gains its rightful place.

“Empowering our local governments is crucial for the overall development of Oyo State, these facilities will not only improve the working conditions for our staff but also ensure better service delivery to our people.” Comrade Adeogun said.

The Oyo NULGE boss however, pledged to collaborate with the state government to maximize the benefits of the new facilities and continue advocating for the welfare of local government employees across the 33 local government areas of the state.

Meanwhile, governor Seyi Makinde has assured that the facility would be officially commissioned on October 2 in commemoration of October 1, Nigeria’s day of Independence celebration.
