The Christian Youths in Politics (CYP) has honored notable personalities in Oyo State, including the Special Assistant on Interfaith Affairs to Governor Seyi Makinde, Rev Femi Ibikunle, and former Commissioner for Public Works, Professor Raphael Afonja.

The awards ceremony, held on July 5 at the Assemblies of God Church auditorium in Ibadan, recognized individuals who have demonstrated selflessness, outstanding service, integrity, and commitment to good governance.
The CYP state Coordinator, Mr. Babatunde Michael Olowere, stated that the honorees were carefully selected based on their contributions to the state and their demonstration of godly leadership, selfless service, and support for youth empowerment.

He noted that the awards aim to encourage values-based leadership and promote accountability in governance.

Rev Ibikunle, while receiving his award, expressed gratitude and encouraged young Christians to participate in governance without compromising their faith.

He emphasized the need for inclusive participation and cited Governor Makinde as an example of a successful public administrator who has shown that one can be a child of God and still excel in public service.
Prof Afonja dedicated his award to the younger generation of politicians, highlighting the importance of education and discipline in nation-building.

He also promised to contribute to the association’s appeal for support.
Other award recipients included government functionaries, youth advocates, and young political leaders who have strengthened democratic values in their communities.
