The Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, alongside the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, and the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Ibadanland, Chief Mustapha Adebayo Oyero, were among prominent dignitaries who attended the 2026 Omituntun–Glorious Ramadan Lecture held at the Ona Ara Local Government Secretariat.

The event was chaired by the Sanmori Adeen of Oyo State, Alhaji Abdul-Fatai Adewale Azeez, while the President of the Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF), Alhaji Kolapo Bolomope, led other distinguished personalities to the well-attended gathering.

The annual lecture, organized under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, attracted Islamic scholars, community leaders, political stakeholders, and faithful Muslims from across the local government and beyond.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Welfare Board served as the Guest Lecturer and delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled “Family Harmony in Modern Times: Islamic Perspectives.” In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of love, mutual respect, patience, and adherence to Islamic teachings in fostering peaceful homes and stable communities.

In his welcome address, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS appreciated the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, describing him as both a leader and mentor. He noted that the Omituntun Ramadan Lecture has remained a longstanding spiritual initiative which the governor supported even before assuming office.

Dr. GLORIOUS also urged Muslims and Christians to take advantage of the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria.

The event witnessed the presence of several political leaders and government officials including the Vice Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Windapo Oluwole; the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Femi Abolade (Yerima); the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Sunmonu; and the Chief of Staff, Hon. Isiaka Arinola.

Also present were the Mother of the Day, Alhaja Idayat Adekola; party chieftains including Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, Chief Waheed Adurodekun, Hon. Mosobalaje Bakare, the PDP Chairman in Ona Ara Local Government, and Alfa Kehinde Adeyemo.

Top administrative officials of the council were equally in attendance, including the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaja Mujidat; the Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), Mr. Olanrewaju Olatunbosun; and the Director of Education and Social Services (DESS), Alhaja Akande, alongside other supervisory councillors and special assistants.

The lecture also drew participation from various Muslim organizations such as the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, Ona Ara Muslim Community, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Tijjaniyyah, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society, and QUAREEB, among others.

The 2026 Omituntun–Glorious Ramadan Lecture concluded with special prayers for sustained peace, unity, and prosperity in Ona Ara Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.
