The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, under the leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, has formally registered the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) in the state and inaugurated its newly elected State Executive Council and Local Government Coordinators, marking a significant milestone in youth mobilization and participatory governance.

The event, which drew youths, stakeholders, and government officials from across the state, was held last year December 30th, at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, and featured a Youth Leadership Lecture Series alongside a Heroes and Excellence Award presentation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Falana, described the registration of NYC as a strategic step towards strengthening youth engagement and coordination in Oyo State.

He noted that the Agency remains committed to supporting credible youth organisations that promote leadership, unity, and development.

Falana emphasised that the inauguration of the NYC State Executives and the 33 Local Government Coordinators would deepen grassroots participation and create a structured platform for young people to contribute meaningfully to governance and policy advocacy.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Barrister Beulah Adeoye presented an inspiring and thought-provoking address on youth leadership and development, emphasizing discipline, vision, and service as essential pillars of effective leadership.

Also, the Grand Patron of the NYC Oyo State chapter, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Bashir Olalekan Abioye Siyanbola (IV), the Onigbeti of Igbeti Kingdom, expressed deep appreciation to the NYC Oyo State Chapter for the honour, while commending the organization for its consistent efforts in empowering youths and promoting positive civic engagement.

In his remarks, the newly inaugurated NYC Oyo State Chairman expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Government and the state Agency for Youth Development, for the recognition and registration of the Congress, pledging to run an inclusive and progressive administration that prioritises youth empowerment, capacity building, and responsible leadership.

He assured that the new leadership would work closely with relevant government agencies, traditional institutions, and civil society organisations to advance the interests of youths across the state.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development Chairman, Hon. Adebowale Falana, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to youth development, mentorship, and institutional support for youth-led initiatives in Pacesetter State.

Other dignitaries at the event commended the Oyo State Government for its sustained investment in youth development. They urged the newly inaugurated executives to justify the confidence reposed in them through discipline, accountability, and service to the people.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed call for unity among youths and a collective commitment to leveraging youthful energy for sustainable development and peaceful coexistence in Oyo State.
