Otunba Oluseye Opatoki, a prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Otunba Opatoki described the late monarch as a symbol of unity, wisdom, and tradition whose reign brought unprecedented peace, stability, and progress to Ibadanland. According to him, Oba Olakulehin’s short but impactful reign will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the cultural preservation and socio-economic advancement of the ancient city.

“The passing of Kabiyesi, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, is a monumental loss not just to Ibadanland but to Oyo State and Nigeria at large,” Otunba Opatoki noted. “In his time on the throne, he exemplified the highest ideals of leadership, fostering harmony among the people, promoting development, and ensuring that the legacy of the Olubadan institution remained strong and respected.”

He extended his condolences to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, for losing a great royal partner in progress. He also sympathized with the entire sons and daughters of Ibadanland, describing the late monarch as a father figure and custodian of a rich heritage.

“I pray that Almighty God grants the soul of our departed royal father eternal rest. May his spirit continue to intercede for the peace and prosperity of Ibadanland even in the afterlife,” he said.

Otunba Opatoki also commiserated with the friends and immediate family of the late Olubadan, urging them to find comfort in the legacy of honour and dignity that Oba Olakulehin leaves behind.

He concluded by calling on all indigenes and residents of Ibadan to remain united in mourning and in preserving the ideals the late king stood for, even as the city prepares for the next chapter in its enduring royal history.
