The Hausa community in Oyo State has organized a special prayer session for the safe rescue of the teachers and pupils recently abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, while also seeking divine intervention for lasting peace and security across the state.

The prayer gathering was convened by the Oba Hausa of Ibadan, Alhaji Muhammad Dikko II, who summoned Hausa residents from across the six geopolitical zones of Oyo State to unite in prayers over the unfortunate incident. The event also featured special supplications for the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, asking for wisdom, protection, and continued peace in the state.
Among those in attendance were Alhaji Hammed Muritala, Special Assistant on Arewa Affairs to the Governor, and Alhaji Danladi Jagaban. Speaking on behalf of the state government, Alhaji Muritala emphasized the importance of community vigilance in supporting security agencies. He urged residents to promptly report suspicious individuals or activities within their neighborhoods to security operatives and local authorities, noting that the government had already put measures in place to address security challenges.

According to him, the people of Oyo State have consistently offered prayers and recited verses from the Holy Qur’an for peace and stability under the current administration. He expressed confidence that, by the grace of God, incidents such as the Oriire abduction would not become a recurring occurrence in the state. He further disclosed that the traditional leader had called on traditional rulers across Oyo State to remain vigilant and work closely with relevant authorities to safeguard their communities.

In a move aimed at strengthening spiritual support for peace and security, Alhaji Muritala and Alhaji Danladi Jagaban announced plans to coordinate peace prayer sessions on a regular basis. They stated that the initiative would serve as a platform for seeking divine protection against individuals or groups with intentions to destabilize Oyo State, while fostering unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among residents.
