The joy in Oluyole Local Government was palpable on Friday as the Council Chairman, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, expressed warm tributes to His Royal Majesty, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, following his elevation to the position of Asipa Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Oba Ajibade, who is the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Traditional Council, a body comprising all Obas and Baales in the area, is widely regarded as a symbol of unity, courage, and humility among the traditional rulers in Ibadanland.
In a statement celebrating the monarch on Sunday, Olatunji described the elevation as “a well-deserved honour for a fearless, selfless, and fatherly leader whose life has been devoted to peace, progress, and justice within the Ibadan traditional system.”

“We are proud of our courageous and fearless father. Your promotion is not just a personal achievement for me; it’s a collective honour for the people of Oluyole and a recognition of your long-standing contributions to the stability and growth of Ibadanland,” Olatunji said.

The chairman praised Oba Ajibade’s leadership within the Oluyole Traditional Council, noting that his reign has been characterized by wisdom, fairness, and an unfettered commitment to cultural preservation.
“His Majesty has shown what it means to lead with integrity and compassion. His commitment to the welfare of his people and the development of our grassroots communities remains worthy of emulation,” Olatunji added.
Oba Hamidu Ajibade, who has on many occasions described Olatunji as his son is a respected member of the Olubadan-in-Council and has been a strong voice for grassroots peace and traditional harmony.

His elevation to Asipa Olubadan, one of the most revered positions in the Ibadan chieftaincy hierarchy has been described by Olatunji as a continuation of his service to both the throne and the people of Ibadan land.
The Asipa Olubadan title, traditionally associated with distinguished service, loyalty, and leadership, moves Oba Ajibade several steps closer to the revered Olubadan stool.
In the euphoria of his elevation, Olatunji reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting the monarch in his continued role as a bridge-builder and custodian of Ibadan’s rich heritage particularly in Oluyole local government.
“Our father’s promotion reminds us that honour always meets service. We are deeply proud to have such a courageous and visionary traditional leader guiding our path,” Olatunji reaffirmed.
