Community leader and philanthropist, Oloye Babatunde Ologburo, has applauded the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration for its sustained investment in infrastructure development across Oyo State.

His commendation came after the Oyo State Executive Council, presided over by Acting Governor Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, approved a series of major road and infrastructure projects during its meeting on Tuesday.

Key among the approvals is the ₦63.6 billion reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 13.6 km Ojoo Interchange–IITA–Moniya Junction–Akinyele Interchange with spurs to the New Oyo Expressway in Ibadan. Also approved is the ₦26.4 billion reconstruction of the 30 km Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbojaiye–KAP Film Village Road, which includes bridges across the Otu and Ofiki rivers, with an 18-month completion target.

Other projects include the ₦17.1 billion dualisation of the 6.2 km Ajia Junction (Ibadan-Ife Interchange)–Nigeria Air Force Base Road, the ₦4.1 billion reconstruction of Isaba–Ogundoyin Road, Eruwa (0.75 km) and Lanlate Garage Junction–Local Government Junction–Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic–Oke Ola Junction Road (1.9 km), and the ₦1.9 billion completion of the Apete–Awotan–Akufo Road with expansion to the Akufo Farm Settlement Road (2.2 km).

The council further approved ₦444.8 million for patching of selected roads in Ibadan metropolis, thermoplastic road marking and kerbs painting, ₦110 million for camping and hosting of the under-20 female national football team in preparation for their Women’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Ibadan, and ₦108 million for the planting of economic trees along the 32 km South East Wing of the Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road.

Reacting, Ologburo, who is also the Sonmori Adini of Oyo, commended Governor Makinde for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to sustainable growth and inclusive governance. He stressed that the projects would not only ease transportation and promote business opportunities but also serve as a catalyst for rural-urban integration in Oyo State.
