Olatunji commissions Oluyole’s Nigerian Forest Security Post barely a week after NUT CICS Housing Estate

Barely one week after commissioning the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Cooperative Investment and Credit Society (CICS) Housing Estate, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has inaugurated a Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) Office Post.

According to Olatunji, the project was part of efforts to strengthen community security across the council area.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Saturday, was facilitated by the ONILA Supreme General under the leadership of Alhaji Amidu Aresa, popularly known as Alagunmu, and witnessed by security stakeholders, political leaders, traditional/community representatives and residents.

Speaking at the event, Olatunji reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people of Oluyole particularly on grassroots security, stressing that he was elected to serve the people and would remain focused on delivering quality governance throughout his tenure.

The council chairman said safeguarding lives and property would continue to receive top priority, while emphasizing that security should never be politicised, saying: “Security is everybody’s responsibility.

“Anything that concerns the protection of lives and property should transcend political interests. We must all work together to ensure peace and safety across Oluyole.

“Those who are trying to pull us down are doing so because they can see the good work we are doing. Their plans will not succeed. Rather than going down, we will continue to rise and record greater achievements for our people.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, Mr. Adeleke Adebayo, lauded Olatunji’s commitment to security and grassroots development, describing him as a leader who has consistently demonstrated concern for the safety and well-being of residents.

According to him, reports of the chairman’s performance have continued to resonate across the state, adding that Olatunji has distinguished himself as a dependable partner in promoting grassroots security.

He described the council boss as “the number one advocate of security in Oluyole,” noting that his administration has consistently supported initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property.

Adebayo prayed for God’s guidance for the chairman to complete his tenure successfully and expressed confidence in his political future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, Chairman of the ONILA Supreme General, Alhaji Amidu Aresa, commended Olatunji for his unrelenting support for the association, saying the chairman has always responded positively whenever assistance was required.

He also appreciated members of the association and the Onila General for their confidence and cooperation during his tenure, while praying for wisdom, strength and success for the incoming executive members.

The newly commissioned NFSS Office Post is expected to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance and collaboration with other security agencies in tackling insecurity, particularly within forested and rural communities in Oluyole Local Government.

Dignitaries at the event included former Oluyole Local Government Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Abore; Leader of the Oluyole Legislative Arm, Hon. Taofeek Azeez; PDP/APM Ward 3 Chairman, Hon. Moses Ojo; the Ogbere Divisional Police Officer, who represented the Oyo State Commissioner of Police through SP Abiodun Yusuf; Head of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, Oluyole Division, Fogbonjaye Saheed, as well as representatives of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilante groups, community leaders, political appointees and party faithful.
