The Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), Busoye Ogunlade, has faulted claims by Abass Oloko that appointees of Governor Seyi Makinde are struggling financially, insisting that public officeholders should prioritise service delivery and the development of the state over personal enrichment.
Ogunlade maintained that political appointments come with significant responsibilities, including contributing to good governance, improving the welfare of citizens and supporting the implementation of policies and programmes that promote sustainable development.
According to him, government positions should not be regarded as opportunities for individuals to accumulate personal wealth but as platforms to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the progress of Oyo State.
Defending the Makinde administration, the OYSROMA chairman pointed to its infrastructure projects and commitment to the timely payment of workers’ salaries as evidence of its efforts to fulfil its obligations and improve governance across the state.

He also criticised individuals who, in his view, expect to benefit personally from government resources, suggesting that some criticisms directed at the administration could be motivated by disappointed personal expectations rather than genuine concerns about governance and public welfare.
Ogunlade’s remarks underscored his continued support for Governor Makinde’s administration and its approach to public service, stressing that the performance of political appointees should be measured by their contributions to the people and the overall development of the state.
He maintained that the essence of public office lies in service, accountability and commitment to the common good, rather than the pursuit of personal financial gains.
