NULGE Celebrates Ibadan North East Council Chair, Akintayo, in Grand Style 

The main hall of Ibadan North East Local Government was aglow with excitement and glamour yesterday 10th, November 2025 as members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) organised a special birthday celebration in honour of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo.

The event, which drew together management staff, political functionaries, Heads of Departments, and other workers, was filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt tributes to the celebrant for his exemplary leadership and commitment to service.

In her remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Mrs. Omolara Aremu, described Hon. Akintayo as “a team leader and a visionary administrator whose leadership style continues to strengthen unity, productivity, and effective service delivery within the Council.” She commended the Chairman for his open-door policy and his consistent support for both the management and the workforce.

Also in his goodwill message, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyejo, commended Hon. Akintayo for fostering harmony between the Local Government and the LCDA. He described the Chairman as a bridge-builder and a peace-loving leader whose inclusive approach has strengthened collaboration and mutual understanding across both administrations.

In addition, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Adeyemo Adekunle, appreciated Hon. Akintayo for his unwavering commitment to staff welfare and his numerous interventions aimed at improving the working conditions of employees. He added that the union decided to celebrate him as a gesture of appreciation for his inclusive and people-oriented style of governance.

Various Heads of Departments, political functionaries, and members of staff also took turns to eulogize the Chairman, describing him as an efficient, proactive, and approachable leader whose developmental strides have transformed the Local Government.

Responding, the celebrant, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo (popularly known as O mu Yes), expressed deep appreciation to the management staff, political functionaries, the entire workforce, and well-wishers who gathered to honour him. He acknowledged their show of love and solidarity, describing it as a strong motivation to continue to serve the people with passion and dedication.

Hon. Akintayo also emphasized the need for continued harmony and cooperation between the political functionaries and the career officers, stressing that such synergy remains essential for the overall development of the Local Government.

Dignitaries present at the colourful celebration included the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Afolabi Olufemi; the Councilors, Supervisors, Special Assistants; the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyejo; the Director of Education and Social Services, Mrs. Carolyne Fatumbi; the Director of Budget, planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Dawodu; as well as other Heads of Departments and Units.

The event was marked by goodwill messages and joyful moments, making it a memorable celebration in honour of a truly distinguished leader.
