New Era Food Day: Ona Ara Agog as ODF, Farmers, Traders Applaud Dr. Temitope GLORIOUS’ Agricultural Empowerment Initiative

Ona Ara Local Government was filled with excitement today as the maiden edition of New Era Food Day held under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, with farmers, market leaders, and traders commending his innovative Agricultural Empowerment Initiative designed to tackle food insecurity and promote sustainable growth.

A statement signed by the Chairman’s Press Secretary, Mr. Rahmon Alawode, confirmed that the Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF), farmers’ groups, and traders across the 28 markets in the local government applauded the Chairman for creating a direct link between farmers and traders, ensuring food products are sold at low-cost markets directly to the people.

In his address, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS noted that the event not only fulfills his administration’s promise on agricultural development but also marks the final component—“A” for Agricultural Improvement—in the NEW ERA Agenda of Ona Ara Local Government.

“This initiative is a strategic step towards addressing food security challenges while serving as a sustainable empowerment platform for our farmers. It is about building a system that nourishes our people and guarantees prosperity for generations to come,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the sons and daughters of Ona Ara, Alhaji Kola Bolomope, President of ODF, lauded the Chairman for the groundbreaking initiative. Similarly, the President of the Yoruba Youth Council Worldwide (YYCW), Aare Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, praised the program as “a first of its kind since the inception of Ona Ara Local Government in 1992.”

Dignitaries present at the event included: Hon. Wimdapo Oluwole, Vice Chairman and Political Head, Inukan LCDA, Hon. Babatunde Sunmonu, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Arinola, Chief of Staff, Alhaja Ojewumi, Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Hon. Abolade Yerima, Leader of the House, Hon. Sunday Adeniji, Supervisor for Agriculture, Other supervisory councilors, special assistants, farmers’ associations, market leaders, and traders.

The landmark initiative has set a new pace in agricultural governance, further positioning Ona Ara as a model of development and people-centered leadership in Oyo State.
