All eyes are on the Nigerian youth political landscape, particularly the Oyo State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), as it gears up for its highly anticipated 2025 State Elective Congress, scheduled to take place this Tuesday, September 30th.
The congress, which will gather youth leaders, stakeholders, and delegates from across the state, marks a critical moment in shaping the future leadership of the council.
However, the 2025 State Elective Congress theme, ‘Local Youth Action for the SDGs and Beyond,’ shall be discussed at the Congress, scheduled to be held at Western Hall, Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan.
Further aware that delegates are expected to cast their votes for new state executives who will pilot the affairs of the council for the next administrative term.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana in his statement assured that the event promises to be keenly contested, with several young aspirants vying for key positions including State Chairman, Secretary, and other strategic roles.

In a statement released and made available to newsmen by the Head of Media Unit to the Chairman of Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates, ahead of the congress, the NYCN State Electoral Committee assured all stakeholders of a transparent, credible, and peaceful process, emphasizing the council’s commitment to fairness and unity.
Youth leaders across the state have been mobilizing their supporters and engaging in last-minute consultations, while observers from civil society and relevant government agencies are expected to monitor the process to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.
As the countdown begins, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation, with many hoping that the outcome of the congress will strengthen youth representation and energize the council’s role in promoting development, advocacy, and civic engagement.
