Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem, MCIArb, MCIOB, MCABE, the Turaki Adini of Oyo State and Mogaji of the Adanla Family of Ibadan, has added yet another feather to his cap.
The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO), Oyo State Chapter, honoured the renowned businessman, philanthropist and Islamic leader with the prestigious Distinguished Da’wah Ambassador of the Year Award.
Presented on Sunday during the grand finale of NACOMYO’s Hijrah 1448 Awareness Programme held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the award, according to the organisation, was in recognition of Adanla’s outstanding contributions to the propagation of Islam and humanitarian service.
The iconic ceremony marked the commencement of the Islamic New Year.

In his acceptance speech, Adanla expressed profound gratitude to NACOMYO for the recognition, describing the award as a motivation to continue serving Islam and humanity.
He dedicated the honour to the entire Adanla family, explaining that the recognition reflected the enduring legacy of his forefathers.
“I dedicate this award to the entire Adanla family because this is what our fathers were known for. They were always ready to spend their last kobo on the propagation of Islam,” he said.
Adanla, the CEO of Afia Group, Wakil Faido Tijaniyyah of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta states, and the Giwa Adini of Offa (Kwara State), was recently awarded the City People’s Biggest Indigenous Real Estate Developer of the Year and Al Basar International Foundation’s Recognition Award.
The latest recognition adds to his growing list of honours, further affirming his reputation as one of the foremost advocates of Islamic development, philanthropy and community service in Nigeria.
Some of the eminent personalities who graced the occasion included the Executive Governor of Oyo State, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, while the Olubadan of Ibadanland was also represented.
Other notable dignitaries in attendance included the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak); the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Abubakr Agbotomokekere; the Chief Imam of Oyo Town, Sheikh Bilaal Oseni Akinola; the Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Yunus Akintunde; and his counterpart representing Oyo South Senatorial District and the Oyo APC governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, who was represented at the event.
Also in attendance were Hon. Akeem Ige, Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board (LGSPB); Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe, Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission; the Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Professor Musibau Adetunji Babatunde; Hon. Akeem Olatunji, Chairman of Oluyole Local Government; Hon. Kamaldeen Mudashir, Chairman of Lagelu Local Government; Dr. Hamzat Oriyomi, CEO of Agidigbo FM; Hon. D. Al Ameen, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly; Marwanatu Sanni Ibrahim; Imam Abdulrasheed, Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Affairs; and Alhaji Kunle Sanni, Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Community.
Members of the Adanla Family were also present in large numbers to celebrate the occasion.
They were led by Sheikh Dauda Adanla, the Chief Imam of Ijokodo Agbaje Community Central Mosque, and Baale Babatunde Oseni, the Baale of Adanla, Akinyele.

Adanla’s immediate family was also on hand to celebrate the honour. They included his wives, Alhaja Olori Balkiz Anuoluwapo Karheem Adanla and Alhaja Mamuda Ayoka Karheem Adanla, as well as his children, Ms. Folashade Aminat Karheem Adanla, Managing Director of Afia Homes and Properties; Rashidat Olatanwa Karheem Adanla; and Mohmud Olatunji Karheem Adanla.
