The Wife of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde has charged Nursing mothers and all mothers in the state to ensure they immunize their babies and to breastfeed them regularly in order to prevent infant mortality.
Mrs Makinde gave the charge while welcoming first babies in 2025 today at Ring-Road state hospital, Oni & Sons Children hospital, and Oojo Primary health care center, Oojo.
Mrs Makinde while speaking with Journalist, she said that urged the nursing mothers to breastfeed their babies regularly because of the full nutrients in breast milk to prevent the babies from attack of epidemic diseases.
She admonished nursing mothers to go to the referred hospital whenever they been referred noting that there is a reason whenever doctors referred patients.
Mrs Makinde, however, charged all nurses and midwives in the state not to hide any information about expectant and nursing mothers Anti-Natal and Post Natal days needed by them.
She urged the expectant mothers not skip their Pre-Natal visit and nursing mothers not skip their Post-Natal visit and ensure they make use of the information given to them by nurses and midwives stressed that they are lives savers.
In their separate remarks, the Nursing mothers extended their appreciation to the wife of Oyo state governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde for her kind gesture towards them and their families.
They promised Mrs Makinde to abide to all the information and instructions given to them to their children from infant mortality.
The first baby was a female and was given birth to at 12:40am, weighed 2.6kg at Oojo primary care center, Oojo, to Mrs Olanimimo Kabirat, the second baby was a male and was given birth to at Ring-Road State Hospital at 1:45am and weighed 3.1 kg to Mrs Rukayat Adeleke while the third baby was also a female and was given birth to at Our Lady of Apostles, Oluyoro hospital, Ibadan at 6:35am, weighed 3.5kg to Mrs Safiyat Lawal.
During the visit, the wife of Oyo state governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde gave cash gifts, beverages and nursing mothers packs to all the mothers to take care of themselves and the babies.
Dignitaries at the event are; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, the commissioner for women affairs and social inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun, the commissioner for Special duties, Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni, the Honourable representating Ibadan North 1, Hon. Comforter, the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, Permanent Secretary Hospital Management Board, Dr. Anifat Ibrahim and others.
